The Blockchain Intelligence Improvement Pledge for Blockchain Analytics Providers
On behalf of the Blockchain Intelligence Professionals Association, we are launching an urgent appeal regarding the future development and integrity of this rapidly evolving industry. As prominent leaders in the nascent field of blockchain intelligence, your commitment to establishing robust foundations is crucial for the continued growth and credibility of the industry.
The Blockchain Intelligence Professionals Association was founded to establish a platform for dialogue, to facilitate training, and to promote sharing expertise and best practices among blockchain intelligence professionals. Our aims include facilitating the development of a community adhering to high professional standards, and recognized good international practices, as well as promoting blockchain intelligence awareness
We recognize the significant strides your organizations have made in developing tools and methodologies for analyzing blockchain data. Your contributions have been instrumental in assisting financial institutions including crypto-asset service providers, law enforcement, and regulators in navigating the complexities of blockchain technology and combating illicit activities.
However, as the industry matures and the applications of blockchain intelligence become more critical for compliance, security, and regulatory oversight, we believe it is imperative to collaboratively establish industry-wide standards in several key areas. We urge you to consider making a firm commitment or pledge towards the following:
• Developing Industry Standards: The establishment of common standards for data collection, analysis, attribution, and reporting, will enhance the reliability and comparability of blockchain intelligence across different platforms and service providers. This will foster greater trust and facilitate more effective collaboration within the industry and with external stakeholders. Our association aims to facilitate open discussion on best practices, and we believe your leadership in defining these standards would be invaluable.
• Ensuring Transparent Processes: Greater transparency in the methodologies, methods of attribution, and algorithms used to derive blockchain intelligence is essential. This will allow for better scrutiny, validation, and understanding of the insights provided, ultimately strengthening the credibility and admissibility of the findings.
• Promoting Data Interoperability: Enabling seamless data exchange and interoperability between different blockchain analytics tools and platforms will significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of investigations and compliance efforts. Needless to mention the reduction of operational efforts and related risk. With nearly 600 exchanges worldwide and over 3.4 billion digital wallet users, the ability to integrate, compare, and collaborate on blockchain data from various sources is paramount.
• Establishing Scientific, Resilient, and Statistically Tested Standards and Methodologies: To ensure the accuracy and reliability of blockchain intelligence, we advocate for the adoption of methodologies that are grounded in scientific principles, subjected to rigorous testing, and validated through statistical analysis. This shift from solely “blacklist-based” models to dynamic assessment models requires a commitment to empirical validation.
The Blockchain Intelligence Forum 2025 (“BIF”), to be held in Bucharest, Romania on April 10, aims to bring together blockchain intelligence practitioners for dialogue, training, and the sharing of expertise. We believe this forum, which is expected to welcome over 500 delegates from over 35 countries, presents a significant opportunity to initiate discussions and forge commitments towards these crucial areas.
At the BIF, we will be announcing the formation of a Working Group, to obtain European Union recognition of a Blockchain Analyst Professional vocation. The goal of the Working Group is to seek the recognition of the special skills, competences, qualifications that would satisfy the requirements of the European Union’s ESCO classification for occupations, and elevate the level of professional recognition for the professional skills and competencies of blockchain intelligence practitioners.
We seek your participation in the Working Group, and your commitment to the principles articulated in this letter, by joining us in signing a pledge on behalf of your organization, so that together, we can foster a more robust, reliable, and trustworthy blockchain intelligence ecosystem. This will not only benefit your respective organizations, but also significantly contribute to reducing illicit activity and supporting the responsible growth of the crypto-asset space for the good of the society as a whole.
We look forward to your positive response and the opportunity to collaborate with you in shaping the future of blockchain intelligence.
Sincerely,
Bogdan Vacusta
